May 2022 – 32nd International Guild Day Presentations

Merie and Jan Kirby of North Star Quilters Guild
Guild president Merie Kirby and her mother Jan share many of their award-winning quilts and their inspiration for quilting.

In 2014, Maria Shell spent two months as an artist-in-residence at the McColl Center for Art + Innovation in Charlotte, North Carolina. While there, she worked weekly with a formerly chronically homeless community now living in Moore Place. By teaching basic sewing skills to the residents, she developed a relationship with the residents of Moore Place that eventually lead to the making of a community quilt that celebrated the residents and their journey towards finding a home and a community. Share her wonderful story. Learn more about Alaska resident Maria at

Show N Tell from Members
Quilters from both Winnipeg and Grand Forks are asked to send pictures for a “show and tell” slide show (with titles, pattern names, and maker names) to Colleen C. to be included in the slide show.
